Symptoms of Withdrawal
Major withdrawal symptoms peak between 24–48 hours after the last dose of heroin and subside after about a week. However, some people have shown persistent withdrawal signs for many months.
Prescription Opioids
- Muscle and bone pain
- Cold flashes with goose bumps (“cold turkey”)
- Vomiting
- Inability to sleep
- Restlessness
- Diarrhea
- Involuntary leg movements
Heroin
- Muscle and bone pain

- Vomiting
- Inability to sleep
- Restlessness
- Kicking movements
- Strong craving for the drug
Fentanyl
- Nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- anxiety
- shivering
